The Haffner Wind Ensemble Residency at Holiday Orchestra Summer 2008
We were delighted to welcome three members of The Haffner Wind Ensemble to our
Summer 2008 course.
The Haffner Wind Ensemble
is one of the most established wind quintets in Britain.
Sarah Burnett (bassoon), Joy Farrall (clarinet) and Nicholas Daniel (oboe) each
spent a morning introducing their own instruments to younger children and together
they provided a memorable lunchtime concert for family and friends. Twenty children
joined Discovery Workshop sessions where they quizzed the professional musicians and
were guided to play their first notes on the instruments.
These Discovery Workshop sessions were made possible by the generous cooperation of
Wood Wind and Reed who provided five bassoons, five oboes and five clarinets. The
Haffner Wind Ensemble Residency was funded through the Janet Taylor Memorial Fund.
