General Information and Regulations
Safeguarding the welfare of the children
- Holiday Orchestra takes child protection concerns seriously and acts according to
Local Safeguarding Children Board procedures. For details of our full Child Protection
Policy click here.
- Participants must register daily for each session.
- Children of Primary school age must be accompanied by an adult
over the lunch hour.
- Players staying over lunchtime should bring a packed lunch. A committee member will
be available to supervise those who remain on the premises.
- Sensible behaviour is expected at all times. The parents of
any players whose behaviour is inappropriate may be asked to make
alternative arrangements for them.
- It is expected that participants will be collected promptly
each day at the end of their last session. The committee cannot
accept responsibility for them after the end of their rehearsals.
- Parents whose child is suffering from any ongoing medical
condition or allergy should complete a medical form on the first
day of the course.
- Should parents need to do so, they may phone our duty Committee Member on the
Committee Desk between 9am and 5pm on 07930 930049.
Behaviour Policy
Most children at Holiday Orchestra behave very well most of the time. Our Behaviour Policy (details
here) describes how we will help them when they fall short.
Please discuss it with your child(ren) and be clear about the standards of behaviour expected.
Music matters
- The minimum age and/or standard of musicianship for each
section should be observed. Music is chosen accordingly and tutors
may not have time to support a player who is struggling.
- Participants may register for as many sections as they wish.
- Players from Upper Sections are encouraged to act as
helpers for players in Lower Sections; those interested
should consult with the course tutors on the first morning.
- The Booking Secretary should be notified of any planned absences.
Participants are advised not to miss more than one day of the
course. Performance in the final presentation is at the discretion of the tutors.
- Those unable to play in the final presentation are welcome to
attend rehearsals only. Please notify the Booking Secretary at
time of application.
- CHOA has a few 'A' clarinets for loan during courses. Those
who wish to borrow one should speak to a wind tutor on the first
day.
Data protection
CHOA maintains a computerised mailing list of past and present
members. We never exchange data with other organisations.
